I have spent thirty years in a small consulting room, listening to people describe their lives.
In that time I have sat with couples in the last hour of a marriage and in the first hour of a reconciliation. I have sat with parents grieving children who were still alive, only changed. I have sat with the burned-out, the betrayed, the bereaved, and the slowly returning. And I have come to believe a few things very strongly.
The first is that the inner life — how we relate to ourselves, to the people who share our table, to our work, and to whatever we name as sacred — is the substance of a human life, not a footnote to it. Everything else is logistics.
The second is that this work is teachable. People can learn to repair. They can learn to listen. They can learn to ask better questions. They can learn to stay. The skills exist. They are not mysterious. They are simply not, for the most part, being taught.
Relationale exists to teach them — carefully, beautifully, and at the standard I would want for my own family.

Dr. Brown holds a doctorate in clinical psychology and has practiced for more than three decades. His clinical work centers on attachment, repair, and the long relational arcs of marriage, parenting, grief, and meaning. He has taught and supervised at the graduate level, contributed to clinical literature, and consulted with educational, faith, and organizational communities seeking to develop a more psychologically literate culture.
He founded Relationale to put the work of a small consulting room into a form that could reach the people most likely to use it.
